I never try to rant, understand that...

But, inevitably, something's are eventually gonna piss Me off...

I saw something the other day, a comment, made by someone who said it with seeming indifference, who seemed to have no thought as to how much the comment would annoy people there... the kind of comment I would make then *smiles*

And the comment was

"Being gorean is a load of bollocks, it was invented by a man, written in some books and not worth believing in"

Why?

I am gonna draw some examples here, and I am going to not be nice about it.

Christianity draws an estimated 2.1 BILLION followers around the globe, 2.1 billion people who have a belief in God, Jesus and the Holy Boo. I am not saying they are wrong, faith is a matter of the heart, and is NEVER something to be trifled with, and I will never ever vindicate anyone for believing in something, in this day and age, with the world the way it is, to truly believe is something precious and you should treasure it.

But logically, I don't believe in it.

Why?

Christianity as a faith is pretty much guided by the Bible, the teachings of Jesus and God that it contains. Good, excellent. The Bible is made up of Books, the New Testament in particular, the Books, of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John et al, who were there, 2000 and something years ago, witnessed the life and death of Jesus and wrote it down. The perceptions of Men... written down... 2000 years ago.... 2000 years for the perception to be tainted by the Catholic church had their grubby hands all over it (Don't defend this, logically you can't as the Catholic church admitted that it hasn't always been supremely white and innocent in matters like this).

It is accepted fact, proven in many studies, and the bane of a cop's life all over the world, that perceptions can be tainted by many things. Emotion, feelings, thoughts, time of day or night, alcohol, mental state. On top of this, if 10 people witness a pigeon shitting on a car window, you will have 10 completely unique accounts of what happened. So if this is the case, the life and trials of Jesus may not entirely be accurate, may entirely be works of complete fiction, you will never know, but still, it is believed in.

So as far as My opinion goes, you have 2.1 billion Christians, believing in the idea of Jesus, who in all probability didn't do the things the Bible claims He did, if He existed at all, it cannot be proven, may not ever be proven.

And people scoff at the idea of Gor?

John Norman wrote about a simplistic world, driven by a Caste system, expounding the idealistic philosophies of honour, strength, truth and respect. Every person had a job, no-one idled too much, violence was never unwarranted, global war unheard of. These Books, these works of fiction point out that this all happens on a world, controlled by a technologically advanced race to make it hidden, which is on the opposite side of the Sun to us... ok, fine, prove there ISN'T a world over there hiding from Us, and I will discontinue My belief in Gor, but I will never discontinue My belief in the Gorean ideals, why shouldn't a Man be honourable, having respect for those He knows, being truthful in His dealings, being strong, strong enough to defend His rights, His freedoms, of not only Him but caste kith and kin too?

Is My belief in this Gor, anymore laughable than 2.1 billion people on the face of this planet who choose to follow the bible? the very same bible that frowns and vilifies belief's of Heathen and Pagan Gods? that slanders and considers evil relationships between two people of the same sex? that led thousands to slaughtes when it launched the Holy Crusades? that slaughtered and burned men and women all over Europe to the tune of hundreds of thousands of mainly innocent people? A religion that says to someone sentenced to death for a vile crime that things will be ok if they repent?

You may scoff at Gor, but at least I believe in something that doesnt judge anyone else, that allows Me to live My life, strong, free, unashamed of the things I do for I know what I have done is right...


You will never see Me running to confession...

P.S I used to be Christian, for a large part of My life, I lost faith and have explored other religions too, so I at least know a little bit about what I am talking about. Feel free to discuss this though, or disagree with Me, your entitled to your opinion, just like I am entitled to Mine.
